May 12, 20179 yr I attempted an update from 6.1.9 to 6.3.3 and it will not boot into 6.3.3, I get this error: VFS: Cannot open root device "(null)" or unknown-block (0,0): error -6 Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions 0800 4014000 sda driver: sd 0801 4013056 sda1 000cef86-01 Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) I foolishly did not make a backup of the USB drive immediately before doing this. I do have a backup of the 6.1.9 flash drive from about a year ago, which should be pretty identical except for a couple of shares and docker plug-ins that were added a couple of months ago. I'm not concerned about the plug-ins, however the shares have movies in them I'd like to save. I see a folder on the USB drive with 6.3.3 labeled "Previous". Can I pull files from there? My questions is, what is the best way to proceed from here? Should I rebuild the drive with 6.1.9, and if so, can I copy config/share and config/plug-ins from the 6.3.3 drive? or should I format the drive with 6.3.3 and copy config files from the 6.3.3 drive? I'm unsure which files I need to copy to get my system back to the way it was pre-Kernel Panic. Or, if we could fix the Kernel Panic (which I've NEVER had unRAID to until the upgrade), that would work as well. Can someone offer advice on how I can recover? Thanks in advance. May 12, 20179 yr Author I wound up deleting all the files off of the flash drive, copying over the year-old 6.1.9 files, making it bootable using the .bat file, and booting up the unRAID server with it. I was able to start the array and see the new shares and plug-ins that weren't on the 6.1.9 backup, so the config must be stored somewhere else. But in any case, I'm back online. Leaving this here in case someone else does what I did and is looking for a solution. Don
