Unresponsive server with fast scrolling text

Featured Replies

Twice in the past couple months my server has gone completely non responsive and when a monitor is hooked up, all i see is very rapidly scrolling text.  I took a video of it this time to see if anyone can give me a place to start investigating.  I assume this is probably a kernel panic, but i'm not really sure.  Here is what i'm seeing: https://streamable.com/fc97w

After resetting everything is fine and it runs a parity check.  Server logs seem to be wiped on restart.  is there any sort of log i can look at to get to the bottom of this?

EDIT: I also took some static pictures of it to try and read some of the text, however the refresh rates and exposure times were making it tough and a lot of it bleeds together.  I see my motherboard system name shown in some of it, "rewind_stack_do_exit", and other things.  Here's one of the better pictures:

Install the fix common problems plugin and set it to troubleshooting mode. If you haven't done a memtest do one and upload your diagnostics for a start.

I've done a memtest and everything passed.  I also have fix common problems but haven't done a troubleshoot.  This only happens on a rare occasion (once every couple weeks).  Do I need to leave it running in troubleshoot that whole time?

Yes

Doesn't that constantly write data(syslog) to the flash drive?  If that's true and my issue only happens every few weeks, wouldn't that very quickly wear out my boot drive?
