Unraid with ryzen?

Featured Replies

Planning a build currently and want to know if i can use unraid with a ryzen 7 1700 and a x370 motherboard to have 3 instances of windows running each with there own gpu. I know that ryzen is a new chip so im unsure on compatibility or any bugs so i wanted to ask here before i went out and bought a ton of parts. Also wanted to know if i did this is there any compatibility issues between mixing different types of gpu's ie one vm gets a gtx 970 and the other a r9 290. Need to know asap

I don't remember seeing anyone successfully doing 3 full passthrough VM's simultaneously with ryzen.

There are multiple threads on this board about ryzen, your best bet is to do some more searching and reading. It's definitely not easy, and there are some issues with ryzen that still have yet to be fully resolved.

Wendell over at the Level1Techs forum (and YouTube channel) is all over IOMMU like a rash, and is working with AsRock and possibly Gigabyte to get the IOMMU groupings working properly on Ryzen.  Might be worth checking that out.
