May 28, 20179 yr I couldn't find anything relevant in the forums or google, but I doubt I'm the only person with this question (which makes me think I'm missing an obvious answer): I recently configured a cache drive for the primary purpose of storing virtual machine vdisk images. I don't need the whole disk to do this, so it would be handy to use it as an "actual" cache drive for user shares as well. Only issue is I don't want to impact VM functionality if, for example, data copied to user shares fills the drive before the mover gets to it. I've already set the mover to run at 1h intervals, but it would be nice if there was a way to "reserve" cache drive capacity such that user share caching would never consume all the space. Is this possible? Thanks!

May 28, 20179 yr Settings, Global Share Settings, Cache Settings, Min. free space: This represents a "floor" of the amount of free space remaining on the cache disk. If the free space becomes less than this value, then new files written to user shares with cache enabled will go to the array and not the cache disk. Enter a numeric value with one of these suffixes: KB = 1,000 MB = 1,000,000 GB = 1,000,000,000 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 If no suffix, a count of 1024-byte blocks is assumed. Examples: 2GB => 2,000,000,000 bytes 2000000 => 2,048,000,000 bytes
May 28, 20179 yr Author Hi thanks for taking the time to respond. The wiki page in your first post confused me because it sounds like it's referencing the share settings page, which also has a "Minimum free space" setting but with an apparently different purpose. Your second post however sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks so much!
