April 12, 201016 yr As I am about to expand the system in my sig, I was curious to know if there is any better drive performance wise to put in for parity? Would the new 2TB Seagate 7200 do any better than the 1.5 Seagate I am using now for parity (less seek over the surface for 1.5TB only data drives)?
April 12, 201016 yr Well, since all your other drives are 7200 rpm, you'll definitely want to use a 7200 rpm (or faster) drive for parity. But I guess you already knew that. Sorry, that's about all I've got to contribute.
April 12, 201016 yr Author I think about the 2TB 7200 Seagate. Because of its higher density it will perform writes starting from the outer track to 3/4 of its platters, accounting for less movement thus making it quicker than the 1.5TB data drives used. At least theoretically :-) I don't know of any 10k drives with 1.5TB!?
