Just stopped my existing 12 drive array and added a new sata drive as paity, reassigned the old parity to disk 12 and restarted the array but its been sat on "mounting" for all of the disks for about 1/2 hour now.

 

What should I do?

Please list the exact steps you took & I'll try to duplicate.  Also, please attach your syslog obtained while system is in it's current state.

Sorry, newb at this, I can telnet in but how do I get the syslog?

Ok found out from a search, I've emailed it to you.

 

These are the steps I did.

 

Stopped the array,

Reconfigured the drives,

Restored the array

Pressed Start

 

Im having the same issue on 5 drive array

Tomm checked my syslog and found an error and recommended a restart, mine came up on the restart and rebuilt sucessfully.

how do you check the syslog?

at a telnet window type

 

cp  /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog.txt

 

which saves a text file to the root dircetory of your flash
