VT-d issue

Featured Replies

Server has finally been stable for several days on my new X8DTE/dual L5640 platform. I just restarted it and enabled VT-d in bios (and nothing else), and right away on boot two random disks are kicked out of the array and the whole system runs sluggish and the console hangs. VT-d disabled, everything is okay again, except for having to rebuild the two kicked disks.

Likely this, since your Highpoint controllers use a Marvell chipset:

Crazy good find. That's probably it. However, 2 years later and no patch integration? I was on an AMD board prior to this and the AMD version of VT-d was enabled for months with no problems.

I put in a support request with Highpoint. They said they would update their open source driver to resolve this issue in a few days. :o

Now that is supporting your product.

Assuming this actually happens, how can we get this rolled into the next release of Unraid? In the mean time, how can I test it to see if the driver fixes the issue?

Not sure, your controllers are using the mvsas driver, this is the same driver used by the Supermicro SASLP/SAS2LP and some other non-AHCI Marvell controllers, you'd need to ask LT to include the driver.
