unRaid and Veeam

Featured Replies

I backed up my Windows machine using the Veeam Windows Agent. I created a Windows VM on my unRaid (6.3.5) server to make sure I had on all drivers (VirtIO 0.1.126-2) I needed and all the drivers installed from an ISO just fine. I booted up a new VM with my Veeam recovery media and the same devices needed drivers. Using the same ISO, the driver would no longer install. When I try to install the driver I get "NO_DEVICE_ID" error. Any ideas?

The Veeam windows agent is meant for physical machines, not virtual. You are trying to restore a virtual machine using the Veeam backup media which is meant for a physical machine so it's not surprising you are getting that error. When you move from a physical to a virtual machine the drivers are not the same as the hardware is virtualized in a virtual machine, requiring different drivers then actual physical hardware.
