November 6, 20178 yr Hey folks, I cannot seem to hit my Unraid box from my VPN but I can hit all my other network assets, it's just Unraid. After a little digging, I noticed two things. 1. A 255.255.248.0 netmask is not available from the drop down in the network configs page, why? Please see screenshot. I went ahead and stopped the array, and manually edited it via /boot/config/network.cfg. 2. I noticed another file in the /boot/config folder named "network-rules.cfg" and got to wondering if i needed to add a rule to allow connections to UNRAID from outside of my subnet...do I? If so how? My unraid box is currently on the 10.10.80.0/21 network (mask = 255.255.248.9") but my vpn comes through on 10.10.103.0/24. How can I add a rule to allow traffic from that net? Thank you.
November 6, 20178 yr Probably just a typo, but your /21 mask needs to be 255.255.248.0, not 255.255.248.9. Did you reboot the server after the network.cfg change? Not sure a file edit applies your change without a network startup. Or try an ifconfig to set the IP and mask on the fly. Obviously, make sure your VPN has a route to the unRaid network. And although it probably cannot ping, does a ping of the unRaid host return the correct IP of the unRaid host (DNS)?
November 8, 20178 yr Author Thanks lbsosley, I appreciate the response...turns out I had a type-o in my stinking VPN cert/domain config that was causing an issue. Thanks again. I still think UnRaid should allow users to type in that Network Mask box and not make it a drop-down with limited options.
