On 6.1.6 - Problems upgrading

Featured Replies

I am having difficulties trying to access the Community Apps Plugin.  I haven't tried to use it in well over a year, so no surprise that its not working.  I am trying to install an OpenVPN container, so I tried going that route after I couldn't get it to install directly.  I am guessing that my outdated OS build (6.1.6) is the problem, but I can't figure out how to upgrade Unraid either.  The plugin way is a no-go since it says its up-to-date even after I 'check for updates', and the update link under "About' isn't there either, which I understand is the new way to update.  I guess since my server has been freaking rock-sold for the 2 years since I built it, I unfortunately neglected to maintain it the way I should have.  It currently runs a few Ubutuntu Server VM's, a PlexPy Docker image, and a Win10 VM that I fire up from time to time.  Have about 15TB of storage.  The server is heavily used and abused, but I have virtually zero problems with it day to day.  Now I need to up move my OpenVPN server to it, and its giving fits.

So my question is, how can I go about upgrading Unraid (assuming that will fix my Docker/Plugin issues and allow me to install the OpenVPN Containe), in a way that won't break anything that is currently running perfectly?  I'm not against leaving the OS as is, if I could get the container installed.  That's my concern at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

Download 6.3.5 (or 6.4rc) from https://lime-technology.com/download/  then extract all of the bz* files from the archive and save them on the flash drive's root directory

* Save the original files from the flash drive somewhere else just in case you have to go back*

Reboot and you're done.

Or if you do for some reason choose to leave it alone, then uninstall CA and then reinstall it.  Then I'd be in position to help with any problems (either way, update CA)

Awesome, thanks a lot. I'll give it a go shortly. Happy belated turkey day to you

EDIT:

I  did try to uninstall/reinstall CA by the way.  The uninstall part worked, but kept getting errors when I went to reinstall.  I figured that was because the OS was outdated as well.

So I was able to get Unraid updated to 6.3.5, and the only issue I had was getting a couple Linux VMs started.  But a quick search and XML edit fixed that.

However, it still will not let me instal the CA plugin.  Its giving me an error every time.  The one I had is uninstalled as well.  I used the link from you main CA thread, and pasted in the plugin install spot and tried to install it.  But its a no-go. I did 'check for updates' prior to trying to install it.  Any ideas?

Most common cause is for whatever reason system can't resolve the URL.  Try Settings - Network settings and manual set DNS addresses to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

This is weird.  I did that, and it's still not working.  Everything else on the server seems to be working, even the VMs.

Got it!  Had to change my gateway to 192.168.1.254.   I've switched from Comcrap to AT&T Fiber a couple weeks ago, and didn't think that I would need to change it here, and its the last thing I thought of when trouble shooting this issue.

The following post pointed me in the right direction. Thanks again for all of your help.
