Looking to use unRAID for VM purposes only, dual boot Windows and OS X.

Featured Replies

I am looking to use unRAID strictly for VM purposes, I've been told it's a solution to a problem I have. I currently have a 1TB NVME drive that I was going to partition and dual boot Windows 10 and OS X, but I've been told unRAID can accomplish this by just using two VM's and I wouldn't have a performance hit.

Can I use unRAID with just one NVME and run both VM's? I have two 500GB SSD's I kind of wanted to use for a larger storage, but that can come later, the 1TB is enough for my immediate needs.

Yes

Following

Can someone give a short outline on how to do this don't need complete instructions can use search to get that

thanks  merry Christmas and a wonderful new year

1. setup unRaid to run your computer

2. create vm and assign Primary vDisk Location to your nvme drive with half the space available or less (depends on what your use case, you probably don't need 500GB as most my os installs run on 60GB or less)

3. install vm os, and eventually any gpu/usb/etc cards

4. repeat steps 2,3

5. enjoy
