Missing drive issue

Featured Replies

Something funky is going on with my 12 drive build.

Running 3.0 beta 2.

Drive 11 just disappears off the array during operation. I reboot; it sees only 10 drives (rather than 11 (+1 parity)), starts to sync. I stop the sync, and power down the system. I then check the drive cage and cabling (working for about a year), reinsert the drive into the 5-3 mobile rack and power up. Now it sees the drive but with a blue light (and the parity is in orange) , as a new drive correct? Should I restore what are my options?  How do I make sure disk 11 not be erased (force unraid to see it as the original disk 11 again) since I'm not sure the parity drive is all there at this point....

You can do a 'Restore' and it won't affect the content of your data disks.  After you do 'Restore' and then 'Start' let me know if your disk11 comes up 'unformatted'.  (Don't click Format if it does.)

Once you have parity re-built, consider upgrading to 4.0 (will be posted soon).

Thanks for the quick reply Tom.

I restored and started, it showed up in green, and parity started. I guess that means it need not be formated. The parity will go on for a while, Ill report tomorrow at the conclusion, hopefull a-ok and will upgrade to 4.0 asap.
