cantharides
Hi, I'm planning to trie out unraid server, but i don't have a spare desktop lying around, but instead would like to install unraid on a spare laptop. The setup i would like to trie out is the following: HP laptop with dual core cpu and 2 gig of ram expresscard e-sata controller Addonics MST5X1PM-B (Mini Storage Tower 5X1-PM eSATA) Black What i want to do is to configure the addonics storage tower (which is equiped with a esata port multiplier) as a unraid storage solution and connect it to the laptop with the esata expresscard. Later on I would expand by adding another addonics storage tower. Has anyone done this before ? Does unraid work on esata storage ? Link to comment
WeeboTech
unRAID works with eSATA. uNRAID also works with some controllers that are compatible with Port Multipliers. In this case, it should be one of the popular chipsets 'Silicon Image 3132 or derived version' I do not know if the express card would be detected by unRAID or if it will work with the port multipliers. This is something you will have to test by booting up unRAID. Link to comment
