July 11, 201015 yr Hey! Some news I was checking the last syslog and found at the end some new lines indicating a PCI error : Jul 11 03:09:59 Alpha emhttp: shcmd (32): killall -HUP smbd Jul 11 03:09:59 Alpha emhttp: shcmd (33): /etc/rc.d/rc.nfsd restart | logger Jul 11 03:10:04 Alpha syslogd 1.4.1: restart. Jul 11 03:10:04 Alpha kernel: klogd 1.4.1, log source = /proc/kmsg started. Jul 11 03:25:01 Alpha kernel: sata_sil24: IRQ status == 0xffffffff, PCI fault or device removal? Jul 11 03:25:01 Alpha kernel: sata_sil24: IRQ status == 0xffffffff, PCI fault or device removal? Jul 11 03:25:01 Alpha kernel: Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = 2789658751 ns) Jul 11 03:25:01 Alpha kernel: Switching to clocksource jiffies So, sil24 seems to indicate the 4 port card as you (WeeboTech) pointed yesterday. Good hinch So there you have your problem. (I'm glad my syslog trick made it possible to catch it. ) Best thing would be if you can RMA that card. I wouldn't trust my server with a card that's giving such intermittent problems.
July 11, 201015 yr Author Well that's it then, I tried every option in Joe L post, each time I get a complete freeze of unRAID. I guess that's what you get trying to build something too cheap There is no way for me to RMA this card, it was a cheap 30$ from ebay hong kong. Was good until now though. I plan to buy a complete new set, go for a Core i3 and a mobo with enough integrated SATA2 ports. I will open another thread for suggestions but so far the P7P55D seems nice. Finally, thank you very much for your help on this issue
July 11, 201015 yr Author Hey guys! Could someone point me to a hardware update procedure? Obviously I would like to safeguard my data and I do not want to mess things up ... I guess I "just" need to place each drive where it was supposed to be (right slot) then rebuild the parity but I would like to make sure...
July 14, 201015 yr Author OK problem solved : I bought a new trio. Thank you all for your help P.S. : I also solved the gmail part
