Data moves to wrong disk

Featured Replies

Hi!

I´m on latest unRAID build and when i move data within the /user directory from one share to another it isn´t stored on the disk the share is using.

E.g. i move using MC a file from a Share on Disk2 to a Share on Disk1 it is going to be stored on Disk2 instead Disk1. So the Share exists two times after that operation.

Any Conclusion?

Thx!

Not a bug, but just the way things work.

When you're in the command prompt, you effectively bypass all the use disk settings, etc.

What happens is that the /mnt/user/share1 and /mnt/user/share2 are both within the same mount point (/mnt/user), so any move done at the command prompt is a simple rename operation which will result in the file staying on the same disk in violation of the use disk rules.

To get around this issue you can move from /mnt/diskX to /mnt/diskY using MC. Be sure not to move from a disk share to a user share or vice versa as that will result in data loss.
