March 16, 20188 yr I've read that preclear is pretty much unsupported now and I've also seen discussions that Unraid will 'preclear' a disk in the background when adding it to the array. With that being said how do I know if it is clearing or if there is errors? I've added the drive to the array and Unraid has formatted it but thats all that seems to have happened? Am I missing something? or is the best option to just run the extended SMART report? If I'm beating a dead horse let me know.

It's always good to run an extended SMART test (or a parity check) after, since clearing only involves writes, not reads.
