I'm new to unraid and have a couple questions.

Situation - so I'm currently running Linux mint and windows 10 in dual boot, I use Linux as my main OS and switch to windows whenever an application requires it, usually for games. I don't like having to reboot every time I switch from one OS to another. So I was thinking I would use unraid to effectively run both operating systems at the same time. I have a spare GTX 660 so I was thinking i'd have each GPU connected to each of my monitors and be able to just switch the input on a monitor to switch it's OS, or run windows in one and Linux in another. Also, I don't want to run Linux in a vm within windows. Furthermore, I would like to switch to unraid without losing any of my files as well as my OS settings.

 

I got this idea from linus' 2 gamers 1 pc video but instead of having two instances of windows for games i'd like 1 for games/windows specific applications and 1 instance of linux for everything else, and to be able to use both as a single user, perhaps through synergy.

question 1 - is unraid a good solution for this? Is there some other possible solution that I haven't considered?
question 2 - is it possible to create images of my current windows and linux setup such that I can simply transfer them to their respective VMs when switching to unraid without losing any of my data or settings?

question 3 - is it possible to initially do all of this without upgrading my specs? my specs are listed in my signature

An answer to question 2 would interest me also ... how to migrate an EXISTING machine to vm without needing to reinstall everything. Possible?
