August 12, 201015 yr Hi, I saw that a few forum members have WD TV Live media players - maybe they can help me with this problem. My WD TV Live media player doesn't see my media files when I have User Shares enabled. When I log in to the WD Live via the Network shares I get the message "There is no media in the current folder" without any prompt for a password. I cleared the stored passwords in the WD Live and set it so that it would prompt for a password every time. I believe the user share settings for my Movies folder are correct (I have some PC user accounts that have the same share settings and they work ok). I changed the network ID name for the WD TV Live to be the same as the user account name (wdtvlive) and that also didn't help. When I turn off User Shares the WD Live works fine with the unraid box. Any ideas what my be the problem? I'm using 4.5.6 and am tempted to upgrade to the latest beta to see if that helps. I haven't upgraded my WD Live to the latest firmware because of youtube blocking issues (see http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=18641123 ).
August 12, 201015 yr Do not try the 5.0 beta series yet unless you feel like doing even more troubleshooting. It's mostly an early access version for the community developers or those with test systems.
August 13, 201015 yr Author Ok, I'll stick to 4.5.6. I think I might do the WD Live upgrade and see if that helps, I don't watch youtube very often... Edit: I was able to get it working after fixing 2 very basic config issues. In the WD Live, under Settings - Network I needed to turn off "Auto Login to Network Shares" in addition to clearing the network passwords via the same menu. I was then able to get back the prompt for username/password when I browsed the unraid box's network shares. I also did some testing with a user account that had a password that was too short ("test") so the account apparently never worked. Once I put in an 8 digit password the user account worked fine. I'm feeling pretty foolish...
