JustinAiken
On my computer, my DVD drive is rdisk5... Whenever I have the unRaid mounted, and I insert a DVD, all hell breaks loose... Anybody experience this? Link to comment
Auggie
There are times if I have too many mounted volumes it can cause issues with OS X wherein it will inadvertently assign the same mounting point to different devices. This could have catastrophic effects if certain applications are accessing the "older" mount when the "switch" occurs. Unmounting the problematic device will restore the mount point to the original device. Once this occurs, I would eventually have to resort to restarting the entire machine to "cleanse" it of any lingering side effects. This bug can "borg" both hard drive mounting points and my optical drive mount points. Again, this is only when I'm trying to mount a large number of volumes simultaneously. My Mac Pro has 4 internal hard drives with one having two partitions, making it 5 logical volumes total there. There are 2 internally mounted optical drives (CD/DVD and BDR). Externally, I have an eSATA docking station for several bare drives I have on hand, plus 2 FW400, another eSATA with 2 drives, and a smattering of 2.5" external USB drives. That's just for the DAS (Direct Attached Storage). On the network, I have a Popcorn Hour C-200 with internal hard drive, which can have several USB drives connected; all of which are shared on the network and can be mounted. And finally, my unRAID with 8+1 and the flash drive, all except the parity drive are mountable. All told, my desktop can get overly cluttered with mounted volumes, and that's when I start to run into the OS X bug I mentioned above. Link to comment
