June 6, 200719 yr When I try to browse the network on my Vista HTPC, I am unable to see the unRAID server. However, if I manually map a share to a drive letter (e.g. \\Tower\disk1) it maps fine and I'm able to access the share. This is a real pain when I would like to use user share which contains data that spans multiple drives in the unRAID box. I could map the user share manually, however if I do this for every user share, I will run out of drive letters pretty fast. Anyone have this problem? How do I get Vista to see the unRAID box under "Network" in Windows Explorer?
June 6, 200719 yr What have you tried to do, to resolve the issue ? (No reason to suggest things, if you have allready tried those). /Rene
June 6, 200719 yr How long did you wait? Even with XP it can take 20+ seconds to recognize the new network item. Bill
June 7, 200719 yr Author I figured out the issue - It looks like there is some sort of master/client relationship with PCs on the network for windows file sharing. I have another PC on the network running XP and it looks like it was preventing the Vista PC from seeing anything else. I discovered this by fluke when I turned off the XP PC and then I could see everything. Hopefully this info is helpful to others...
