Where are the Config Files on my USB key and how do i find them from terminal?

Featured Replies

Im going a bit nuts, not being a Linux Guru, i cannot figure out how to edit config files on my key from the trerminal window.

Yea, I can power down the array and pull the USB key and do it on another machine.

But im trying to figure out how to edit while the NAS is up from the terminal window.

I cant find the config files nor any How to in several hours searching this AM, so im posting this in desperation. Im having a hell of a time as all this is new and the doccs assume i know linux.

Not to mention in trying to learn Linux, I have not found a basic command ref applicable to UNRAID

listing all the supported UNIX commands. I know CPM and the command line is nothing new.

Im trying to Edit file /configfiles/AppleVolumes.default - I cant find it.

(Yea and im trying to use VI as well but need to FIND the file FIRST - HELP!)

OK - found it here - /etc/netatalk#

Any reason the web GUI doesnt have any provision for editing config files? Seems like this would be a really useful thing.... That and a guide for Samba + AFP - lots of pieces but no consice manual is making life really difficult. That and edit provision for hosts.allow and hosts.deny (Had to completely eliminate external addresses, botnets kept killing UNRAID and the default config leaves you vulnerable on many levels) - Also not covered in any doccs in any detail.

Also i have one NAS unit that will not mount one drive under AFP, been trying to fix or figure out for months and cant figure out what the issue is. Works under SMB and mounts. Just never mounts and beach balls under AFP (Locking up the machine you try and mount it on)

So trying to edit the config files, and cant find them in several hours trying. Could some kind soul explain where this stuff is hiding and a brief "HowTo?"

if you cd to /root/config you should see the config files.  You can then use vi to edit them - However, a much better solution is to install UnMenu which adds a ton of functionality, including an easy method of editing config files.

As far as the AppleVolumes stuff - can't help you there, I don't have any macs.

just remember /root/config is the unzipped files after they are copied from the memory stick upon boot.

The USB config files are /boot/config
