Cannot read smart data

Recommended Posts

When my disks connected to the mini-SAS port on the motherboard all was fine. But, due to some problems, the server had to be replaced by HP.  I am now using HP H240 card by setting the card to HBA mode in the card's utility. HP H240 is a compatible card as seen on http://lime-technology.com/wiki/Hardware_Compatibility#PCI_SATA_Controllers. I am not sure if this problem is attributable to the card or not.  But, smart data of hard disks cannot be read now.

How can I correct this?

Thank you.

It's the controller, get an LSI HBA instead.

You are right. (as always ?)

I replaced with LSI 9207-8i, all works as expected. Perhaps, H240 on the compatibility list should be updated accordingly.
