Memtest

Featured Replies

Not directly related to unRAID, but I'm just putting together another hardware build for a desktop system.  Now, this new system is very similar to my unRAID build.  Instead of the mATX DH55TC, I'm using the full ATX DH55HC.  The only significant difference between the two mobos is the addition of two legacy PCI slots.

I'm using an i5-650 instead of the i3-530 in my unRAID system, and the memory, identical in specification, has come from a different manufacturer.

As an initial hardware test, I booted unRAID 4.5.6 and it runs fine.  I then loaded memtest (4.0) from the unRAID 4.5.6 distro.  This hung without completely painting the screen, and displaying incorrect memory parameters (instead of detecting it as being clocked at 1333, it reported a clock in excess of 4000).

I downloaded the latest memtest86+ V4.10 and replaced the slightly older version on my unRAID USB.  This version of memtest is currently running perfectly.

I note that the changelog for v4.10 lists addition of i3/i5/i7 (32nm) processor support, and a fix for a crash at startup.  Which of these may have been pertinent, I'm not sure.

I post this just in case it helps someone else, and as a request/prompt to include the latest memtest in all unRAID distros.
