1 NIC Shows at 100MB/S

Featured Replies

I have a issue that I cant seem to work out. My one NIC Card shows it connects at only 100MB/S which makes no sense they both connected directly to the router with a high grade CAT 7 cable. I have even swopped the cables around the same thing? Can someone please advise?

It's most likely to be a mechanical problem with the cable or the plug or socket. Category 7 cable is difficult to make up and it is not the best choice for gigabit Ethernet. What ends are you using to terminate it? GG45 connectors need the use of a special tool. I suggest you try a length of Category 5e cable as a temporary replacement. The springy contacts in the socket can get damaged and all eight are required for gigabit and beyond.

Since you don't include your diagnostics I can't tell what hardware eth1 is using or what driver is loaded. Some of the more esoteric NICs used on gaming motherboards aren't properly supported so if it isn't an Intel, Realtek or Broadcom device, the driver it's using may not support 1000BaseT.

You have two ethernet ports and two bonds configured, presumably each only having one member. Is that the intention? Since you say that both ports are connected to your router I get the feeling that your intention was to set up a single bond with two members.
