All I store are movies and TV shows ripped from my DVD's so I'm dealing with files that are usually 1GB in size.  My switches can handle it and so can both computers I would be transferring files between.  If it is worhtwhile to do then I have two questions:

 

1.  My desktop has two sizes options: 4088 bytes or 9014 bytes.  Which should I use?

2.  There's a post that shows a command to enable it on unraid (ifconfig eth0 mtu 9014).  Is the number user-definable and does the command need to be run at each startup?
