September 25, 201015 yr My favorite Unraid case of all time has gone on sale again: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-11-129-043-_-Product Use promo code EMCYXNP22 at checkout to get the deal. Here is a link to the $25 rebate: http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesfornewegg/rebate/SH/Antec11-129-043Sep21Sep3010mc9.pdf I use this for a 16 bay server (using cheap scythe 4 in 3s), but with 5 in 3 hot swap cages it will go to 20 drives! The fans are all tri-speed so overall it can be pretty quiet. Definitely recommended for a not Norco build!

This is one good case has plenty of space and case fans but heavy. i was researching this case before when i ran out of space in my CM590. but the high price prevented me to pull the trigger, later on i decide to use my old Antec 300 as secondary case. Well, i am cheap.
September 25, 201015 yr Author I have both the Antec 300 and the 1200. The 300 is a good small server, but the 1200 is like a work of art. I love that case!

Agree 100% - I have one of these with the scythe 4*3 - awesome for a 16 drive array. However once you factor in the 5*3 costs the Norco definitely seems to be the way to go for a 20 drive build.
September 27, 201015 yr Author Agreed. The only advantages over a Norco for a 20 drive build are: - All fans are 120mm or larger, which means the Antec 1200 will be a lot more quiet than your average Norco - You can piecemeal it together- $120 now for the case, and then you buy the 5 in 3s for $100 one at a time. Its defiantly more expensive over time, but the upfront cost are less and if you get to spread the rest of the costs as you grow your array. I love the case...
September 27, 201015 yr Is it more expensive due to the need to buy backplanes, etc? No 5x3 Enclosures generally run at least $100 each. To get 20 drives in this case you would need 4 so that's $400 on top of the $120 (current sale) price for the case. I believe the Norco case costs something like $350 but you don't need to buy 5x3 enclosures for it. For 16 drives in the Antec 1200 you can use four of the very inexpensive (under $10) Scythe 4x3.
