AFAIK, most motherboard manufacturers are putting off moving to it because of the investment they already have in BIOS, and the need to start completely from scratch with UEFI. Programming UEFI is very different from programming BIOS, so it also means having to retrain all their existing BIOS engineers. I think probably what will happen is that we'll start to see UEFI appear in "non-standard" PC applications like slates or netbooks before we see them appearing in laptops or desktops. Link to comment
