vsftpd?

Featured Replies

I am trying to figure out how to use vsftpd but I am not seeing how to enable it with unRAID. I am reading that it is included with 4.5 but how do I use it?

Anyone? I can't seem to find instructions on how to set this up.

vsftp is already enabled and running on unRAID.

Just do some google searching to figure out how to configure it.

The file you are looking for is vsftpd.conf.  If you login via telnet and type

cat /etc/vsftpd.conf

you will see the contents of the vsftpd file

I have Googled it, and no help. That is why I am asking.

Looks like though like you said it is enabled, I am able to FTP with root. Now trying to figure out how to add users/permissions.

Any help? I'm just not able to find any documentation on how to configure the users and actually also the paths to be seen.

I really can't help much as I have never gone through the process of trying to set up vsftpd.  A google search of vsftpd.conf returns a lot of results... you are just going to have to read them and play around with the settings.

Been doing a bunch of reading the alst hour or two and from what I gather it's not so easy to setup compared to other FTP servers. With that, it does have a lot of flexibility, but you need to know how to do it. I was hoping for a simple solution. I think what I may end up trying again is setting up my Windows Media Center to run an FTP and than mount the drives to that. It sucks to have to go that route but I'm not a linux person so this is above my head.

Sorry I could not help more, not having set it up myself I can't give any guidance.  There are a lot of examples and tutorials so it is just a matter of using that info to set stuff up.

No worries. I think I do have the general idea of it, just that I'm not a Linux person so I basically need detailed instructions on how to. I posted something over at their forums so I'm hoping that will help. But the link you did provide does help a lot for other aspects of the configuration.
