How does unraid determine a disk is "missing" ?

I have a disk that shows up in POST but unraid says it's "missing", what does that mean exactly?

    It isn't responding correctly to commands or requests from the OS.

    Since you posted in the support area for a VERY old version of unraid, I'm guessing the quickest option would be to examine the syslog.
