Maybe a file browser and file mover?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I don't know too much about programming and possibilities but what about this?

What about a file browser web page, like windows explorer style so you can view all your files in the user share and the individual disks.

This page would then allow you to move files between disks to rearrange files. My understanding is if I do it in windows through SMB it copies the files through the network to the computer and back again and slows it all down.

Maybe on this web page you can then select the folders you what to split share, like a graphical version.

What do you think or not that useful?

If you install the 5.0beta2 version there is a built in file browser.  No ability to move files at this time, but just to browse the file-tree and open files.

If you install unMENU (on any version of unRAID) and then, using its package manager install the unRAID-Web package, it includes a full AjaXplorer web-based file manager.  unRAID-web is on port 89.  You would get to it on

//tower:89

It looks like this:

^^ does the file browser in support larger then 4GB files?

What is the username and password to use the Explorer? OK it is admin admin

^^ does the file browser in support larger then 4GB files?I have absolutely no idea.  It is an AjaxExplorer question in conjunction with the lighttpd web-server and the amount of memory you have in your server to work in.

Looks like you figured that part out.  I'd just try it on a copy of a large file and see how it goes.

Hi Joe,

I haven't looked at the file browser in 5.0b2 but that looks unMenu add-on looks good to view the file tree.

How about the moving files. It would be nice to be able to setup which files to move (drag and copy style) and then be able to log out and allow it to continue. Kind of like the nohup command in the terminal but without all the typing. I think it would be easier for general use.

Also allowing to specify split shares graphically might make it all easier to explain.

Thanks Josh
