November 3, 201015 yr I have a cache drive with a lot of data on. I'm about to remove a different drive, so will need to do an initconfig. After the initconfig, can I tell unRAID that the cache drive is a data drive and have it appear in the array?
November 3, 201015 yr I have a cache drive with a lot of data on. I'm about to remove a different drive, so will need to do an initconfig. After the initconfig, can I tell unRAID that the cache drive is a data drive and have it appear in the array? you can do it all in one step. Stop the array Use the devices page to un-assign the drive you are removing and assign the cache drive as a data drive Log in as root and type initconfig Respond to its prompt (if there is one) with "Yes" (exactly that, upper case "Y", lower case "es") Return to the main management web-page. All the assigned disks should show as "blue" No disk should show as un-formatted (unless you just added it and it has no file-system. Since the cache disk already has a file-system, it should not show as un-formatted). If any disk shows as un-formatted, stop... post a syslog. Start the array... parity will be created on the new configuration of drives. No need to calculate parity twice and do it in two steps. Joe L.
