New USB drive (due to HW failure) with existing encrypted array

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

sadly I was not able to find a solution via searching the forum and using google. My problem is as follows:

My USB drive (Version 6.6.6) failed horribly (with not beeing able to pull a backup). The server itself has an array of 6 disks with an encrypted filesystem. I was able to pull a diagnostics archive.

I used a new USB drive and flashed it properly with 6.7.2. The server comes up properly. With the help of the archive I was able to properly assign the disks (based on the disk id and its old position in the array). In 6.6.6 I saw a dialog next to the start button in order to properly add my passphrase. This one is gone now. Since the config of the system is fully wiped (due to the failure), I am a little bit frightend to hit the "start" button (since a data loss is the worst scenario now).

How can I ensure that the array gets properly recognized?

How can I ensure that all disks are properly decrypted and will not be wiped?

As you might guess, I am a little bit frightend by the "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started" statement :)

Thanks in advance!

PS: Sorry for posting an obvious question if I was to dumb to find the answer :/

This will only be appearing on the parity drive(s), and if you check parity is already valid it won't be overwritten.

Start the array and Unraid will ask for the passphrase.
