September 20, 20196 yr Hello, This is my first time posting a problem with unraid after using it for over 5 years. Today I was planning to copy some data from my array to an external usb drive (from my Windows 10 system) and started getting read errors (in the syslog) on two drives (disk 10 and disk 12) From the 'main' view in the GUI both disks are showing the same number of read errors. The disks are still showing green dots and not red. Before I start to power down the array and check cables and such I wanted to post my diagnostic file for a review. It seems odd that it's reporting the same number of errors on both drives. Both are hitachi drives and physically next to each other in my case. I appreciate any suggestions and review of my syslog and other files Thank you tower-diagnostics-20190920-1601.zip Edited September 20, 20196 yr by josh266 corrected a typo in the Title
September 20, 20196 yr Community Expert You are running a very, very old version of Unraid. You should upgrade when you get this problem taken care of. The diagnostics provided by that version make us work a lot harder to figure out what is going on. For example, I have to open multiple files just to figure out which SMART report goes with which disks. I will come back to this later if someone else doesn't take it up. Dinner time.
September 21, 20196 yr Author I appreciate the feedback and do plan on upgrading this version of Unraid after solving the current problem. I have another Unraid system that is running a more current version so I am familiar with the new features and such.
September 21, 20196 yr Community Expert Neither disk is reporting SMART. Check connections and post another diagnostic.
September 22, 20196 yr Author I started to inspect the drive connections yesterday but unfortunately had a close family member pass away this weekend. As my thoughts are with my family I might not be able to work on this for a week or so. I do appreciate the help so far and hopefully it might just be some loose cable connections.
