Sorry, but this rated a new thread, I installed KB938194 and went from 3.5MB/sec reads on vista to 20+MB/sec reads.

 

Try it out guys, lets see if this holds water or is another temorary red herring from MS :)

Huh, down to 6MB/sec by the end of a 9Gig transfer.  Might be a cosmetic fix, be interesting to see if others get better results.
