Power outage killed my USB

Featured Replies

I had a power outage a couple weeks ago, just before leaving for a business trip. My UNraid server seemed to have not recovered. I thought it was just stuck on a boot prompt. Today I finally had some time to look into the issue and found that the USB for my server is dead. No system recognizes the drive - Linux/Windows/OSx - dead. My disk shelf is recognized by the bios and all the drives look like they are listed.

What do I do now? I do not want to loose the data in the server - 30TB or so. I do have a backup, but would like to get the server running if possible. Thanks.

Losing the flash drive should not result in any data loss.

Do you have a backup of the flash drive?  If so, you can simply prepare a new flash drive (if the old one is truly 'dead') and copy over to it the backup of your config folder.  If it is a new flash drive you may need to re-register the license for the new flash drive (this may happen automatically).

If you do not have a backup of the flash drive (you should do this regularly), you can still do a new config and reassign the drives to the array being careful to not mix up data drives and parity drive(s).  Do you have a recent notification email with your current disk assignments (another should have thing)?

If you do not have a backup of the flash drive you may need to reinstall dockers, plugins, etc.  But the Previous Apps section of Community Apps make that fairly easy.

The chances you have actually lost your data are slim.
