Too many open files...

Featured Replies

So starting yesterday morning I'm seeing a ton of these in my syslog:

Dec  4 06:22:25 Tower shfs: shfs_readdir: opendir: /mnt/disk3/Pictures/2010/08_Aug (24) Too many open files

Dec  4 06:22:26 Tower last message repeated 45 times

Dec  4 06:22:26 Tower shfs: shfs_flush: close: (9) Bad file descriptor

Dec  4 07:22:26 Tower shfs: shfs_readdir: opendir: /mnt/disk3/Pictures/2010/08_Aug (24) Too many open files

Dec  4 07:22:26 Tower last message repeated 7 times

Dec  4 07:22:26 Tower shfs: shfs_flush: close: (9) Bad file descriptor

It seems limited to my Pictures share, but it spans more folders than just the one above.  Any ideas?  I searched but couldn't find any good troubleshooting steps.

Do you have an HTPC accessing the server picture folder? I had this issue earlier on, it was my WMC7 picture folder setting for screen savers. It would open a large amount of pictures and cause these. I fixed this doing 2 things.

1. Changed settings in my pictures setting on my HTPC's

2. I can not for the life of me remember where I found this, but there is a setting in unRAID that you can change the amount of open files. I will search to see if I can find it, but I'll bet before I come back someone else will have the answer.

I wonder if it's my Boxee media scan that's blowing it up....

Not sure about boxee, but if it is opening files from your server it is quite possible.

yea its telling you that you should be using XBMC and not Boxee....lol  ;D
