File Spaning Data Disks

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Haven't posted in a while but finally got my miniITX server working with the newest unRaid. Just wondering if Tom was planing on or if its even possible for files to span disks.

Thanks for a great product Tom.

No, files can not span disk, but directories can.

And is this automatic when multiple drives are configured with the same directory name?

IE:

\\tower\disk1\span1

\\tower\disk2\span1

It's automatic if you access via User share.  In your example, the User share name would be 'span1' and you can configure which disks the share is allowed to span, plus a couple different algorithms for the system to use in allocating storage.  Refer here.
