Just Replaced My Router...

Featured Replies

...and forgot to stop the array and shutdown beforehand.  Now my Windows PC's can't see the UnRaid.

Typing "tower" in my web browser just gets me a message that tower.com can't be found.  And if I just shut it off, then it'll have to rebuild parity when it comes back on.

I'm assuming Unraid will eventually release and renew its DHCP info at some point on its own like all PC's do, but is there any way to do that now?  If not, how long before it releases and renews?

How can I get my Unraid to reconnect to the new router so my other PC's can see it again?

Thanks!

It is for odd circumstances like this that I have left in my graphics card.  Just in case, I can plug in a keyboard and monitor and do some basic functions.

Assuming you don't have a graphics card still in the box, I am not sure what you can do, although you could always type whatever command you need c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y.  If the system goes off, you'll know it works.

Maybe "stop" <return> then "poweroff" <return>?

Note: apparently the above works, but will not actually shut off the power.  Just do those and wait for a few minutes (the drives should spin down), then shut off the power.

BIG NOTE: I would wait for someone else to confirm this, though the worse that would happen would be a rerun of parity.

You could also try going into your router setup screen, look for the DHCP section, and kill everything.  That should cause them to reconnect.

As with my previous note, be careful with my advice.  :)

Sometimes having my Unraid on a low end motherboard with integrated video comes in handy!

"Stop" and "poweroff" did the trick (and DID shut the server off).

Turned it back on and all's well.

Thanks!

Good to hear.  I should have purchased a mobo with integrated video.  Next time ....
