Network Default

Featured Replies

My Pihole docker stopped working and I think it's because I changed settings in the network config. I thought I put everything back to how it was but it doesn't seem to help, so I think I may have the wrong settings. Can someone please post a screenshot of what the Network settings default should look like? I realize it may not be exact to my configuration, but I want to compare to get an idea. Thanks.

It's worth going through SpaceinvaderOne's video again...........

On one of (many) resets, I had no "Custom br0" available.... I had to delete the network config files on the flash and let unraid rebuild it on reboot..... There maybe (almost certainly is) another way of doing it, but that's what worked for me....

One slightly confusing (for me) item is @ Key 6...... Server IP..... it's your fixed IP of the pihole, not the server that's hosting the Docker....

Thank you for sharing your config for pihole; mine is setup correctly in that regard. I think my configuration in Network Settings might be wrong. Should the IPv4 be the IP of my Unraid server or my router? What about the IPv4 DNS server? I guess that's where I'm getting confused.

Your DNS server is your pihole, so it needs to be  the address of your pihole.

In my example 10.10.10.2

And any other devices on the network also need to point at pihole as its DNS service if you want to take advantage of it fully...

e.g when you navigate to a site from your browser, it's first stop is pihole to see if it matches anything on the block list there..... if not, it will then pass it on to the DNS sites you've nominated in Key 1 & 2. In my case, Google and Cloudflare....

I find the best sites to quickly find out if pihole is working are, Yahoo News and the Daily Mail (UK newspaper)......... both full of crap!
