Help: Kernel Panic with V4.6 Pro [Resolved]

Featured Replies

Hi,

I upgraded to 4.6 for a few weeks now and it has been running smoothly until this morning.

I was copying some files into the unraid server and suddenly it was unresponsive. The only thing I can do is to reboot. But each time I see this error message on the console (see attached pictures). It says kernel panic.

Didn't know what happened, I also pulled the flash drive to check on another computer. Now when I reboot, I am stuck at "Verifying DMI pool data....."

I have tried using another flash drive (with uinlicensed) and bios flashes, nothing works. I think I have 2 problems now; Kernel panic and DMI error.

Updated: When I unplugged all the SATA cable from the Mobo, unraid loaded but went back to Kernel Panic screen and stuck again.

Please provide any suggestions I may take next. Help, I am stuck!

THANKS!

First run a memory test, preferably overnight.

Ok... here are the steps I took to resolved this headache  :-\

To start, the computer was stuck at Verifying DMI Pool Data screen

-Remove all SATA cable to HDD

-Computer booted to Kernel Panic screen and stuck again.

This time, I stopped the loading of Unraid OS and and did the memtest.

-Results were full of errors

-Started troubleshooting to isolate the bad memory and found one stick which is bad.

-Pull bad memory out and left with 3GB

-Reboot and everything loaded

-Doing Parity check now

Hopefully this will help someone else with this same problem. Thanks gdaschk for your prompt reply. I wouldn't get to the memtest  until I pulled all the sata cable out.
