Problem deleting.

Running 4.2b4

I am having trouble deleting items from a drive via windows, after a reboot it will do a couple of items and then sit there not responding, this was the same in 4.2b2 as well.

Are you trying to delete from a User share or a disk share?

Disk share.

I've also just tried moving the items into a folder "old", the first 95% went real fast and again it stalled eventually giving a can't write error for what was left.

I tried a number of different combinations of moving/deleting and could not reproduce this, so I need a little more info.

- What does your directory tree look like, and can you give an example of an operation which is failing?

- Are you moving just within the same disk share?

- Are any errors showing up in your syslog?

I replaced a 300gb in my unraid1 with a 750gb. Parity rebuilt the data. This was under unraid 3 I think.

Put the 300gb in unraid2 which is slowly populating with drives. The data on the drive needs deleting as its already on unraid1. All the movie folders are in the

\disk6\film1

\disk6\film2

\disk6\film3

as the disk is left over from before the shares upgrade. I've tried deleting one by one, some work but some fail saying directory unavailable. Others just hang.

EDIT: A friend had a play via telnet and the folders dont allow the read/write permissions to be changed, he used chmod 666 (I think, its really not my thing).

I ahve also tryed removing the drive and formatting in windows to ntfs both quick and slow formats but after putting the drive back in the unraid box the files and folders still show up.

As I am only tring to delete everything on this drive can I just reformat it under unraid?
