AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 V2 1.0.8.0

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Anyone been brave and updated their motherboard BIOS to the new Update AGESA Combo-AM4 V2 1.0.8.0?

I'm running an ASRock Phantom Gaming X with AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.4 Patch B. I have found this rock solid (as long as I don't have an AMD Navi GPU installed). The only down side is the idle power use isn't fantastic. I've seen some info that indicated that 1.0.0.6 dropped the power consumption but I can't find anything about 1.0.8.0.

I have just been brave enough. I had been hoping that the new update would allow me to clock my RAM closer to its advertised potential, but unfortunately that was a no-go. Other than that, I don't notice any difference so far. I will post an update here after a few days with any more feedback.

With the 1.0.8.0 AGESA installed, AMD says a 500-series motherboard will properly boot a Zen 3 / Ryzen 5000 chip. But the 1.0.8.0 just allows the board to POST the new CPU. On November 5, you should check with your motherboard vendor again for a BIOS featuring the 1.1.8.0 AGESA, which will incorporate more optimized features for the Zen 3 chip.

FYI - just to confirm I’ve had no stability issues since my post above. I haven’t noticed any benefits either. I’m running an AsRock x570 Creator with the 3950.
