  • Login password input field in Unraid GUI mode limited to 49 characters

    • Minor

It is not possible to login when booting Unraid via GUI mode, if you have a password longer than 49 characters.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Set a password via WebGUI longer than 49 characters (for example 60).

    2. Reboot Unraid and select Unraid GUI

    3. Enter username

    4. Enter password

    5. Incorrect login details (user/password) message

If you carefully count and type in more than 49 characters into the password field (for example 60 as above), you will notice it goes outside the bounds of the box- this in and of itself should not be a problem, but if you count backspaces, your password will always be completely cleared out after pressing backspace 49 times (not the number of characters you entered).

It is possible to login via safe-mode with a long (eg 100 character) password, as there is no character count restriction on the input here, but very difficult to make changes via this mode, as many changes are not persisted unless emhttpd is running.

Unraid version: First discovered in version 6.9*- still present in 6.12.10

Clear your browsers data and site settings and try again. I'm not experienced this on latest 6.12.10

Hi, thanks for the reply. This is not an issue with the WebGUI, but rather with the GUI Mode of Unraid, and is not something you would encounter without physical access to the server (IE there is no browser etc). Step 2 of the "Steps to Reproduce" should hopefully make this more clear:

Added additional clarification for step 2 being a startup option.

I was in 2nd boot mode of gui.

    Unraid uses emrs firefox.

    I didn't experience the issue.

However, I was using a UHD screen. Resolution/screen size may play a factor here.

From your screen shot, this looks like you were running in a VM. Did you also test this on bare metal? Monitor size should not play any role here. Login works fine through safe mode CLI, just not for GUI input box.

This screen shot is also for the WebGUI login- the GUI Mode login at boot looks very different.
