  1. Good news for those on the waiting list TAMSolutions is expecting to receive part of a new order of servers tomorrow that should take care of most.... if not all of the people on the current waiting list! Jason from TAMS told me that the new shipment of servers should be very similar to the Supermicros mentioned in this thread... He will give me more specifics tomorrow when they arrive. Jason also told me that the new units will go through the same check in and testing procedures of the past... So a slight delay will be necessary to insure that the units are properly working before they are shipped. These new units will more than likely be sold just as quickly as previous batches... One customer on the last waiting list purchased 16 units for himself! I will post more detailed updates just as soon as I receive them. It's gonna be an early Christmas for a lot people really soon!

  4. I believe the servers are very similar if not the same... no disappointments!
  5. I Have News!!! It's Good... If you have been on the waiting list... I just spoke with Jason from TAMSolutions... They've received about 50 SuperMicro servers last week! They are in the process of making sure that all the units are in working order. Twenty have been tested an verified... with about thirty more units to go. If you have been on a waiting list (50-70 people) you will be getting an email on Tuesday...ish. If you would still like to purchase one of these incredible machines... Please respond to the email! The units we be sold on a first come first serve basis. Again... there are only really enough units to fulfill the current people on the waiting list... If those people do not respond or have changed their mind... The units will be sold to any to new or repeat customers. Hope this helps... PS... make sure you check your junk mail!
  6. Ask TamSolutions for the rails... I think the have a few sets... and I think they are less than $45.
  7. Here you go: 4U version :http://forum.thegioimaychu.vn/chassis-server-case/255-review-chassis-supermicro-sc846tq-r900-giai-phap-luu-tru-24tb.html
  8. If you are now on a waiting list for the new Supermicro 4Us and or contemplating if you really need 24 bays TamSolutions has a Supermicro 2U (12bay) as well. Here are the specs: Supermicro SAS826TQ Supermicro X7SBE Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz Kingston 4GB RAM (1) Supermicro SAT2-MV8 (2) 800 watt PSU (redundant) All This For $189.00!!! If you would like one of these machines before they are sold out... give TamSolutions a call at 801-796-1696... they only have about 17 or so left in stock! The case fans in this machine are the same as the ones in the 4Us and are very loud... but they too can be very easily replaced with virtually silent fans. The PSU fans are also much quieter than the ones that come with the 4U. I have one of these machines as well... so if you have any questions... I would be glad to help. Just thought I would share.
  9. With the inspiration of and from Mikejp... I finally got my ebay server to the volume and layout I was hoping for. This was all made possible by ordering the Fan Wall and Back Window from Norco Direct. With these parts and a new PSU and Case Fans... I was able to completely gut the older server case... eliminating the extremely noisy PSUs, 60mm fans, and side fans. I also had to remove the motherboard from its mounting tray, take out all the wiring for the redundant PSUs and unscrew the original back window. Brass standoffs where used to hold the motherboard in its new location... The modifications took me about 90 minutes and about $130 in additional hardware. I am quite pleased with how it turned out. Let me know if you have any questions... John Here are some pics: Before: After:
  10. Thanks again for the reply... Because the server will be in my basement...which is where I work... I think (know) I will be going the ATX route as well... with Norco Fan Wall and some Noctua fans... Did you have to rig your case to get the fan wall to fit?
  11. Thanks for getting back to me... interesting that the activity lights don't work. Did you have to do anything other than pop your drives in to get unRAID working?
  12. Hi folks... I spoke with someone at Tamsolutions on Friday... no more AMDs... but I was curious... do these servers have drive activity lights? Someone from Tamsolutions replied to my email inquiry by saying : Does anyone have pictures of what the drive bays look like that have activity lights? So it looks like I am going to have to go with one of the Xeon models... since this server will only be used to serve DVD/BD/Flac data to my Dune Media Player... is there any reason to go with the 2.0 over the 1.86? I'd also like to know if anyone has tried using 4TB drives... like the new Seagate GoFlex 4TB? Thanks... I am excited to get one of these!
  13. Here's a few pics of how I made mine work for me... Hey Mike... Did you mod your server case to use a single power supply... Were you able to make it silent?
