  1. Just purchased another key, thanks Tom. Always considered having a second/backup key. Don't really need it right now, but would like to support Toms continued efforts on UnRAID development.
  2. I think the verdict is fairly obvious, now the question for Tom is "when can we get it" Ost.
  3. Release v5.0. As others have stated, no software is perfect, what is important (and what most of the conversation over the last couple months has focused on) is progress. So long as we get regular updates on progress and RCs, everyone is happy. Moving to 64 bit or reverting to a prior kernel may fix some bugs, but is almost guaranteed to introduce others. "Baby Steps" Ost.
  4. I rolled back to v4.7 after running permissions script on rc8a and experiencing the SAMBA issue, no access / file problems for me. Waiting for rc9 to settle down before upgrading again. Ost.
  5. All are through user shares. So through SAMBA (through windows) tried to delete /mnt/user/sharename/file, get error. Delete same file through telnet and it works fine. <edit> Appears to be intermittent file access across a number of shares, some will delete, some wont
  6. Hey Joe Thanks for this. I tried again (loaded samba onto flash and edited GO file). Tested it was installed (it was), and rebooted server and windows PC. Still cant delete the files through windows. Have checked permissions on two files one old (pre RC8a) and one new (rc 8a). Both are -rw-rw---- nobody users Yet i get permission error on old file, and can delete new file. Weird... will continue to delete through telnet until new RC i guess, just a pain.
  7. Quick one, can you downgrade from a 5 RC to 4.7?
  8. I just upgraded (from 4.6) to RC8a, and experienced the "not able to delete" issue (i have run the permissions script twice now) I tried installing the updated samba as well (as per others in this topic) however was still unable to delete certain files (can write to shares fine). I just had to remove some files via telnet. Would a new release with an updated samba included fix the permissions issue? I have also noticed (as per others in this thread) that exploring the files in this version is slower than the release i upgraded from (slight pauses when first opening directories, and slow refresh). Thanks
  9. I am wanting to upgrade to this latest RC, as I am about to start purchasing 3TB drives and need the support (currently on 4.7). Just curious about what the following does (taken from upgrade instructions), and impact is if i dont do it? "Go to Utils/New Permissions and execute that utility to change file ownership and permission settings. This is necessary for proper operation of the 5.0 security model. "
  10. mejutty, I experienced the same issue, usually once the drives start to fill up. I posted same issue on other forum, which someone posted some recommendations on how to potentially fix, see posts here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=4500.msg85277#msg85277 Maybe they will work for you? Didnt for me, but given its only really every now and then, and doesnt appear to create a hole in my parity i keep going as normal. It usually only occurs the first time i write to that particular drive as well ie if i have shares spanning multiple drives, first write to one drive may fail then work, then next write to another drive will fail then work. Once it fails once, every subsequent write to that drive works fine. If you figure out a solution i would be keen to hear.
  11. Awesome thread, i have been looking at the recommended power supplies to get my next one but have a few options. I currently have 12 Green drives and 1 7200rpm drive, and am looking to expand (over time, years) up to 24 green drives. I looked at the power supply i currently have (was re-used) and baulked when i saw the 550W had two 12v lines (14A & 15A), so figured it best to run out and grab a new one. I have the following options: Corsair TX-650 V2 ($119) CoolerMaster GX 750W ($119) Given they're the same price, was wondering whether the 750W would be overkill for now and later and i should just go with 650w, or would it be better to keep that extra up my sleeve? Its going into a norco 4224, with amd cpu and m/b. Thanks
  12. Minor point, but some small housekeeping is required on the unRAID OS development page, http://download.lime-technology.com/develop/infusions/aw_todo/project.php?id=1&view=roadmap It lists 0% of tasks done on 5.0 beta 4 (yet its available), doesnt list a 5.0 beta 5 (which sounds like is in works given comments in this forum on disk assignment using serial # etc). Thanks
  13. Has the AMD powernow drivers been included in this release? They were included in an early 4.6 beta, but then i thought they were taken out and cant locate anything about them being re-included in the changelog, or on the project plan for development of unRaid? Thanks Ost.
  14. AMD powernow was included in one of the previous beta releases to fix the CPU bug, are we expecting this to make its way back into a future release prior to v5.0? Thanks
  15. Hi, im interested in enCFS for my unRaid server, couple questions: 1. Can i install enCFS without unMenu? (assume i can just install the packages from somewhere), if so wheres/whats best location to get latest version?. I am running 4.5.6 v of unRaid. 2. If i install a newer version of unRaid, assume ill need to re-install the enCFS package after that? (ie move to v5.0/4.7) 3. Anyone tested (as per previous threads) use/recovery of enCFS with deleting the secrets file (ie is it recoverable), and any issues with the encrypted data spanning multiple drives, and if so is it also recoverable on drive failure (assume so given parity drive etc). Thanks in advance, Ost.
