  1. grumpbutfun Lets say that UNraid is migrated over to a CentOS distro as the default Linux distro. From there, is it possible to use the "cache" drive as a /data drive for storage of all the programs and package dependencies and such(Similar to another embedded Linux distro such as Android)? I do agree with how neutered the kernel is and such, its too much of a hassle to remove features then have users add it back in.
  2. You sure have. Since you like running the QEMU commands (which I also do in KVM) you should take a look at the following: That is something I like to have and try! but that's not possible on the system I running, looking forward to see what you come up with //Peter Now does KVM/QEMU require a 64-bit kernel or can this be completely baked into the current UNraid 32-bit builds without issues?
  3. I think grumpybutfun does have a good idea with UNraid XBMC Edition. There is plenty of users out there that have a mid size tower sitting in their house acting as a "server" only but could benefit from having a HTPC. Prime example is I built a HTPC using a Fractal Design Define case with 6x 4TB HDD, a 60GB SSD and AMD APU based Mobo/CPU combo for my Father-In-Law to hook up to his TV and eventually rip all his DVDs over to the storage. Now I had gone with Ubuntu Server, ZFSonLinux and XBMC to accomplish this for him but frankly, UNraid with XBMC would have been a way better solution for him and cheaper at first. Not everyone uses the 24-Bay server and nettop PCs around their house.
  4. I am not sure if this is possible or not but here goes. If this "Unraid NE" does come around, would it be possible for the system to boot like it does now to a bare-metal version of UNraid then through the webGUI, setup and partition a hard drive for UNraid NE built on CentOS with no DE but with a SSH/Telnet access. Then change the boot order on the USB stick to default to the UNraid NE unless user selects differently. From there, if things go south, a user then could select traditional UNraid during boot then either reformat the OS drive or perform necessary fixes to get it back to working state. I figured this would be the best way for all new and old users of UNraid to have the option of appliance UNraid or UNraid NE based on preferences.
  5. That is how xbmc xorks. That's kind of where I got my idea from. In a sense like this, a main repo would be good for sponsored plugins or trusted developers that have been actively involved with unRaid for awhile. This seems to have been working forever with XBMC and proven succesful so I think Tom and the team should adopt this into a future unRaid build.
  6. I am not sure how to say this but can it be possible to implement a repo system with a default one thru LimeTech then if a person wants to add a 3rd party repo of all of the available plugins, they add the repo URL but if that repo gets abandon or something, someone else can create one then switch over to that one?
