  1. I have a "download" folder on my unraid that capture various files I gather from various locations (internal and external).

For example when I burn Music or DVD for Plex.

Then, I want to move file from the "download" folder into specific folder, for example Movie Plex.

When I cut the file from "download" and paste, I only get 5mb/s to 20mb/s... When it starts it's at 200mb/s but quickly goes down to 5 to 20mb/s

Any suggestion to improve transfer speed?

    Thank you.

    Here is my set up.

  2. Yesterday I ran the latest update of the different dockers I have.

Today I cannot access the "live TV" of plex. I have the below error:

    Play back error

Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.

    Plex logs error attached

    Critical: libusb_init failed

    I use HDHomerun as tuner

    Unraid: Version: 6.11.5

I can play Movies from the unraid shared but no live tv.

    Any suggestion?

    Thank you.

Use DHCP on your server. In your router, reserve a fixed IP for the MAC address of your server.

Sorry, I am learning as I go:

Can you explain your previous comment?

1- DHCP for the IP on unraid? But the IP comes from the router when it will be turned on?

2- Fix IP on pfsense for the unraid server using Mac, using DHCP lease I guess?

I am confused it seems to be eggs or chicken first.

You should shut down all of the computers and IOT devices in your house, swap routers, and then start turning things on one at a time so you can evaluate them. You will want to make sure that everything comes up with an IP address in the correct subnet.

It looks like you have Unraid set to get an IP from DHCP, so after it boots you want to make sure it gets an IP on the 10.15.15.x subnet, along with all of your other computers and non-IOT devices.

Unraid should need no special handling for this change, unless you have hard-coded the old IP address in scripts or bookmarks or whatever.

Is it better to not use dhcp and create a fix ip for unraid ?

I was focused on the fact that they wanted to change their IP range. But you are right, if you are changing routers and want to use a myunraid.net certificate, you will need to make sure that DNS Rebinding is disabled on that router.

It might be easiest to disable SSL (Settings -> Management Access -> Use SSL = no) before switching routers, that way you will definitely be able to access the webgui via http://ipaddress.  After switching to the new router/ip the Management Access page will warn if DNS Rebinding is an issue.

it seems that this was already set to NO on the unraid.

  6. Thank you all for your responses so far.
So, if I create my new ip on my new router to be 10.15xxx will my unraid stay with 192.168.xxx?

My main concern right now is to keep Plex working for the family.
-can I lock my old 192.168.xxx for unraid, if yes how?

-is it better to use the 10.15.xxx my new router will assigned (DHCP) ?

15.x.x.x is not a private address, you should avoid that if at all possible. If you were to try to hit the public site that has those you could have issues. You didn't say, but if you are the business or entity that owns that public range you can use it. Otherwise don't use public on a private network.

These are the private address spaces you should be using:

    Class A: 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255

    Class B: 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255

    Class C 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255

Outside of using proper classes it's your network setup how you wish. It's then the network rules you need to get right for moving data around. For that best to Google and see what others have done. I'm sure there are a lot of pfsense blogs and YouTube on rules to setup. For example, I needed several rules on my network ( not pfsense) for Sonos and Chromecast devices.

When I switched from consumer grade to prosumer I used all 3 classes, the only reason is because I could. Class A 10.x.x.x for vlans, Class B  172.20.x.x for the internal network equipment and Class C 192.168.2.x for guest.

TBH Google is your best friend for this.

Try ing to edit these out on mobile, won't let me...

    😞🙃

Good point. I will use 10.xxx or 172.xxx.

Now in terms of switching my old ip to my new ip, is it going to generate issue with my unraid ?
Is my unraid going to change ip?
What s the best approach ?

  8. I am planning on changing my router to a new pfsense box.
My current IP is set to 192.169.59.xxx.
I would like to create a new set of IP with my new router for personal use 15.15.15.xxx, for guest 15.15.50.xxx and last one for IOT devises 15.15.100.xxx

    is it not recommended?
How will my unraid “react” to that?
What are the best practices when changing your router?
    Thank you.

Your pfsense router is on a different IP network from Unraid, you don't want that.

The easiest thing would be to give the pfsense router the same IP/network setup that the Asus had, using 192.168.59.xxx

If you really want to switch over to the 10.15.15.xxx network, you need to let let Unraid get an IP on that network.

Thank you, i am pluging back my old router and will reset my pfsense accordingly.

now I turned on my old router and my unraid IP has changed from 192.168.59.xxx to 169.254.53.xxx and cannot access the web...

    I am confused...

Not a lot to go on here. Are you trying to use a legacy unraid.net certificate? If so, see:

      https://unraid.net/blog/ssl-certificate-update-2

Or are you having trouble with a myunraid.net certificate? You can follow these instructions to get access to the server while you work out how to disable DNS Rebinding on your router:

       https://wiki.unraid.net/My_Servers#How_to_access_your_server_when_DNS_is_down

I ran unraid with my "old" router (Asus) with no issue.

Today, I installed a new pfsense router on a new hardware, new box.

Before I setup my new pfsense router, I set the unraid network.cfg file to keep my initial IP:

    Use_DHCP set to NO

    192.168.59.xxx

Now the new pfsense router is running (10.15.15.xxx) but I can no longer access unraid webUI using its IP.

    I have the below message:

    "The connection has timed out

The server at 192.168.59.xxx is taking too long to respond."

    Any suggestion?

OK so for anyone  else having troubles I managed to fix it in a different way:

    1) removed everything I did in the spaceinvader tutorial (configs, containers...) execpt the mariadb docker

    2) Added the nextcloud docker and config it

    3) Verified that nextcloud is working with local ip -> ok

    4) add nginxproxymanager docker from jlesage

    5) Add host in nginxproxymanager

Make sure the ports for 80 and 443 are forwarded ( see spaceinvaderone tutorial)

Nginxproxymanager needs that for the certificate.

Nginxproxymanager is just click and go. Add correct IP and ports, set SSL to on and off you go.

And make sure Nextcloud is not forwarding HTTP to HTTPS, it will give you an error. Nginxproxymanager is in charge of the https thing.

    In the config.php in Nextcloud I changed this: 'overwrite.cli.url' => 'https://cloud.domain.eu',  INTO this: 'overwrite.cli.url' => 'http://cloud.domain.eu',

This is what I have but not working... so far.

    I have port 80 forwarded to 180, and 443 to 1443.

    Any help please!

  13. Greetings,

I used to run a Win10 machine as a server and configure my Pi and Shield around the house to play movie from it.

Now that I am trying Unraid, I would like to do the same. Unraid as a server with all my media, and play movies, TV shows to my Kodi Pi or Shield.

How do I find the Unraid media from Kodi? I installed Kodi-headless but no idea how to use it.

I cant find any specific guide on the question.

    Thank you.
