  1. I have not, i will try that the moment the parity ends. I do have a silly issue, since i run this headless. The last time i plugged my monitor in, it works when it's booted up, but during boot up (BIOS, POST, etc...) the screen doesn't work so i never see the menu to run memtest. I never bothered to try to fix it - any recommendation on what to look for?
  2. I ran a second parity check and once again it has thousands of errors. I ran a filesystem check (with the -n), and then without the -n and the following was returned (with -n): Phase 1 - find and verify superblock... Phase 2 - using internal log - zero log... - scan filesystem freespace and inode maps... - found root inode chunk Phase 3 - for each AG... - scan (but don't clear) agi unlinked lists... - process known inodes and perform inode discovery... - agno = 0 - agno = 1 - agno = 2 - agno = 3 - process newly discovered inodes... Phase 4 - check for duplicate blocks... - setting up duplicate extent list... - check for inodes claiming duplicate blocks... - agno = 0 - agno = 1 - agno = 2 - agno = 3 No modify flag set, skipping phase 5 Phase 6 - check inode connectivity... - traversing filesystem ... - traversal finished ... - moving disconnected inodes to lost+found ... Phase 7 - verify link counts... No modify flag set, skipping filesystem flush and exiting. I am running another parity check now, here is the latest diagnostics kenny-diagnostics-20240204-1954.zip
  3. I will run another check. The last time i checked the filesystem it made a huge mess of my array - bunch of files got lost, etc.... How can I ensure i don't lose anything? Ok, i can certainly do that after i fix this issue
  4. Monthly parity check this month (1st of every month) had thousands of errors it corrected. I shutdown the server, checked the cable connections to be sure. Rebooted and ran a parity check (without sync) and it found an additional 4 errors - what could it be? attached diagnostics kenny-diagnostics-20240204-0647.zip
  5. Thank you, can you point me where in my diagnostics file you discovered that I may be having this issue? Also, i have updated to the latest version of deluge, how do i ensure this is fixed? (I've been on this unraid version for as long as i can remember)
  6. Hello, this morning i couldn't load my unraid dashboard. All the containers seemed to have still been working - I was able to access the ones that had a webgui through their proper links but the dashboard was non responsive. here are my logs, i had to log in through SSH to get them kenny-diagnostics-20231208-0745.zip
  7. I've narrowed down the problem to the docker Codeproject AI. When i turn it off, it jumps back to about 140MB/s. With it on it crawls to about 20 MB/s Total CPU load with it on goes to a max of 20%, docker stats commands shows it peak at 2%. I just tried pinning cpu on that particular docker to all except 0/1 and it seems to get a bit better to 95 MB/s. Still gonna play around with it - i've had this docker running for at least a year with no issue and the config hasn't changed.
  8. Attached is an updated diagnostics 24 hours after parity has started. I have a scheduler to check parity every month and for years it wouldn't take more than 1.5 days. I upgraded to a 20TB and this is the behaviour now - hoping to get to the bottom of it. kenny-diagnostics-20231122-0703.zip
  9. Nevermind, found the issue. I had the syslog server running and pointing to the unraid while i was troubleshooting other things a couple of days ago and forgot to turn it off. The moment i turned it off, the speed jumped and it will complete at a reasonable time. It dropped back down again - will continue to monitor and post diags in a few hours
  10. Thanks, yes i stopped it because i was running a short self test and was taking very long and i thought it might have something to do with it. I restarted it now and will keep it, still showing at about 17-20MB/s
  11. Hello, I recently upgraded my parity from a 4TB to 20TB hard drive. Precleared it, did the parity write. Now, I want to ensure it's correct before i install any new hard drives. I am running a parity check (without write correction) and it's running extremely slow - 18MB/s, 12 days to finish. With my 4 TB, it would take a little over a day. I've attached the diagnostics while parity check is running. kenny-diagnostics-20231121-0707.zip
  12. Hello, I have a TimeMachine backup on the server setup. After updating to Sonoma, I was plagued with problems and did a restore - it would take 4 hours to do it over the network. I thought I can transfer the files to an external hard drive and speed up the process. when I run the command rsync -a SRC(unraid folder) DEST(unassigned mounted disk) I get the error "chown....failed: Operation not permitted" I did some digging and because my external hard drive is formatted as exFAT, the permissions don't transfer over. My question is; Is there a better way to copy the time machine backup over to an external hard drive for it to be used on my mac?
  13. hmm ok, i probably did something wrong then. I tried to do the filesystem repair (without the -n) - this whole time i've had an x on the drive yet while i'm still emulated (the new drive should be coming in), i see the lost+found emulated also
  14. Thanks for the response - in my case, i ran a filesystem repair due to the errors and suggestions. What that did was create 2,200 folders in the lost+found where some/most are corrupt now. Had I moved the disk out of the array, wouldn't have the drive been emulated until i can get it repaired or replaced therefore avoiding the lost+found scenario above?
  15. So i suppose the lesson I learnt here is that once a disk is disabled - best to take it off the array and then try to repair the filesystem?
  16. Unfortunately the rebuild did not work - it was still showing unmountable. Luckily I had copied the content of the drive to an offline drive - I simply formatted it and started recopying everything. Now my SMART is reporting re-allocated sectors and rising ... so i guess a bad drive and time to change it out.
  17. I do not have any errors on the main page or smart other than disk2 showing "device contents emulated"
  18. ok thanks, so is it safe to assume that when the rebuild is complete, the drive "should" go back to green and the option will dissapear?
  19. Hello, yesterday I noticed that my disk 2 was disabled and emulated. The health of the drive seems good and no errors so i proceeded to follow these instructions here; https://wiki.unraid.net/Check_Disk_Filesystems It dumped a whole bunch of files into Lost+Found but the disk was still showing disabled. I copied the content of the entire drive to an external hard drive (outside of the array) in an effort of following step 1.5.5 (redoing a drive formatted with XFS). It is currently rebuilding, but i noticed that it's still showing "unmountable: not mounted" while the array is rebuilding with the option to format... What should i do? will the rebuil fail - do i need to stop, format and then rebuild? kenny-diagnostics-20211012-0812.zip
  20. Hi all, I currently have an old server that is about time to upgrade. I've been out of the hardware game for way to long and I am at a loss of where to begin. I currently have 11 HDD's as follows; 1 parity 8 disks 1 SSD cache 1 unassigned device Hardware specs: Intel® Core™ i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz 16 GiB DDR3 (max. installable capacity 32 GiB) ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8H67-M PRO Version Rev X.0x Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 Marvell 6480 8 Channel SAS/SATA RAID PCI-E Card The primary purpose is to stream plex for friends and family, store data and run a couple of VM's. Ideally, i'd like to keep the SATA PCI-E card but I get a sense it's not highly recommended with a new upgrade. I have a budget of about $1,000 ... it does not have to be cutting edge but keep me going for another few years assuming the use case remains the same.
  21. Hello, I just got my hands on an old server and wondering if it's worth to move my existing Core i5-3570k unraid server to it or continue my research to buy something newer? It's primary use is Plex with h264 streams to friends and family but ideally I'd like to move to h265/4K content. The server is a HP Proliant DL380P Gen8. It's fitted with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 (2.6 GHz/8-core/20MB/8.0GT) processor(I can add a second processor) 64 GB of ram At first glance, it seems like a no brainer but passmark may be telling a different story (especially from a single thread rating - not sure how relevant this is) and i'm not sure if it's made for my usage How will this perform for my needs? Has processors technology moved in the direction that favors streams with cheaper motherboard/processors combinations?
  22. Hello, I require some support. Recently Rutorrent keeps timing out. Please let me know what information you require to help get the support started
  23. Hello, I've noticed random crashes over the last couple of months. It's hard to find a trend, the closest I got is if I add a torrent it will timeout on rutorrent (not all torrents do this). 2018-06-21 09:04:22,988 DEBG 'rutorrent-script' stderr output: 2018/06/21 24. Hello, over the last several months I noticed a trend that when I add either multiple torrent files at the same time or a large torrent file (say 100 gig download), eventually the server crashes with an out of memory error - It's impossible to collect logs from the server because even when i'm in front of the server i can't input a command due to the memory error. I scoured the forum and tried things such as changing the disk cache wit the tips and tricks plugin. I am finally posting here because I realised that this only occurs when Rtorrent is loaded with many torrent files at once or large ones - otherwise I never have this problem. Any help would be appreciated supervisord.log
