  1. Hallo all, im running in some kind of strange situation. For testing i installed an old Nvidia Geforce GT 730 GPU. After downloading the drivers and change the docker settings everything seems to work and plex was HW transcoding: But when i check the gpu activity: No running procceses foud!! am i missing something?? Thnx in advance..
  2. Intel Xeon 2146G - is the C246 chipset with total of 24 lanes. Mobo: gigabyte C246M (2x x16 and 2x x1) Asus in x16 slot = 8 lanes Nvidia in x16 slot = 8 lanes Nvme M.2 = 4 lanes So in total 20 in use and 4 left. Or am I seeing this so completely wrong?
  3. Good evening everyone, After reading a lot of forums, I have unfortunately not yet been able to find the correct answer to my question so I hope there is someone who can help me further. My motherboard and chip-set support 24 PCIe lanes and 8x sata 3. All 8 sata ports are in use by 3.5 inch HDDs. The connectors for PCIe on the motherboard: 2 x PCIe 3x16 2x PCIe 3x1 1x vnme m.2 the 2 PCIe x16 are used by an Nvidia GPU and an ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 Card V2. With both x16 locks in use, the lanes are shared, so there are 16 in total. The M.2 Nvme uses 4 lanes, so of the 24 lanes in total, 20 are now in use. Now there are 2 x1 slots left and I still have a Samsung 2.5-inch 1Tb SSD unused in the drawer. I tried using a very simple PCIe X1 adapter from amazon: https://www.amazon.nl/Jessicadaphne-Uitbreidingskaart-Adapterkaart-Uitbreiding-compatibility/dp/B08MV1HBNQ/ref=sr_1_10?__mk_nl_NL=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild = 1 & keywords = pcie + x1 + to + sata & qid = 1607020064 & sr = 8-10 to connect the SSD, the SSD is accepted by the motherboard but not recognized in UNRAID. So my question ..... Which PCIe 3x1 to SATA is recognized by UNRAID and can I use for my SSD? In addition, I also have an unused SATA controller: https://www.ebay.nl/itm/Dell-PERC-H310-SAS-SATA-Controller-IT-Mode-for-ZFS-FreeNAS-Unraid-LSI-9211-8i/123241184797?hash=item1cb1bf3e1d:g: a68AAOSwjJdfpdQC Would an x1 to x16 addapter work? https://www.amazon.nl/perfk-Express-Riser-Adapter-Converter/dp/B07HFW53XH/ref=sr_1_5?__mk_nl_NL=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild = 1 & keywords = pcie + x1 + to + sata & qid = 1607020330 & sr = 8-5 Any help is greatly appreciated !!
  4. Nice to introduce myself here and at the same time a thank you for all the clear answers on the forums that I have used quite a lot during the past weeks! After being a fairly satisfied user of Synology for a long time, my search for a new home / media server began. Since my server is used for about 99% for media streaming (PLEX), I had high demands on the transcoding capabilities. In addition, the number of PLEX users in the family is growing, which sometimes makes it difficult for the server to survive. At first, the choice would be easy: old Synology out and a new one in. But when figuring out and selecting the right NAS model, the price shocked me! so much money for comparatively so little hardware and with a wish to always build a PC myself, I started selecting and ordering parts. Since a new Synology would become quite expensive, I didn't save on hardware and now I hope to have a UNRAID server that I can enjoy for many years to come! my current setup: * SilverStone CS381 case * Intel XEON E21-46G CPU * 4x Samsung M391A2K43BB1-CTD - 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz (ECC) * Asus WS C246M PRO * SilverStone AR11 CPU Cooler * SilverStone SX650-G PSU * Dell H310 6Gbps SAS HBA w/ LSI 9211-8i P20 Storage: * Cache: 1TB - Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 * System: 1TB - Samsung 860 EVO SSD * Parity and storage: 6x WD RED 4TB After the entire installation it was time for a first transcode test this afternoon, the result:
  5. Hello everyone, After almost finishing my first Unraid DIY server, I cannot help but ask for your help. I am using a silverstone cs381 case. (https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=861&area=en) Now this case has a backplane with a Mini-SAS SFF-8643 connection, well I had bought a cable on Amazon and when both: mobo and Unraid did not detect the hdds, I found out after some googling that the cables have a direction: Noob Since I plan to run my system maps, plex transcoding / metadata and NZBGet unpacking on ssd drives, I am running out of SATA connections on the motherboard. So I bought a sata controller over the Internet (it flashed) https://www.ebay.nl/itm/Dell-PERC-H310-SAS-SATA-Controller-IT-Mode-for-ZFS-FreeNAS-Unraid-LSI-9211-8i/123241184797 since this card has a Mini-SAS SFF-8087 connection, I thought to connect the card to the backplane of the silverstone case and connect the ssd's to the sata ports on the mobo, or do you think I should do it the other way around? And to avoid making another stupid mistake, which cables should I use to connect the backplane to the sata card? It seems like i can order these also in 2 directions: https://www.amazon.nl/Internal-SFF-8643-SFF-8087-0-5-Meter-Foldable/dp/B01DCZCFW0/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_nl_NL=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=SFF-8643%2Bto%2BSFF-8087&qid=1606239093&sr=8-2&th=1 All your help is greatly appreciated!
