The error messages would be really helpful...

Can't help without the error messages.

Yes I know that's why I use it through a reverse proxy with SWAG and I know many other does this with NGINX Proxy Manager.

    What's the error?

I have a completely different approach, I write you in that exact moment from my Debian Bullseye container that I'm connected from a remote machine over Firefox and I even don't need a VPN or anything at all and the best thing I have a complete Desktop OS at my fingertips from nearly everywhere where a Browser runs. :)

sorry. wasnt explicit enough: same behaviour and error message as before..

The Container Port is wrong, you need to set it to 8080 instead of 8088. Please download the 'latest' version since Docker pulls the right architecture for you.

You don't have to pull the amd64 version.

    Hello,

I changed the port to 8080 and loaded the latest version.. still it faild.

I tried de-DE also failed with different error and tried ther again..

not sure what I can do now ....

You are running this on a NAS and not on Unraid, but should still be no problem (is you nas ARM or Intel/AMD based?).

Identified the problem now and have to say thank you for pointing me to this...

The variable: 'THUNDERBIRD_LANG' is missing the standard value is: 'en_US' (you can get a full list here: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/latest/README.txt)

I have now updated the container or better speaking the Dockerfile so the variable is automatically filled in.

That's why the download failed, if you add this variable then everything should work just fine. ;)

(Don't know if a update is enough and your NAS will automatically create the new Variable)

I am running Synology Ds416play+ using Intel CPUs
I am running 2 other x86 docker without an issue.
    what I did now:

download AMD docker container, reviewed config (see picture).

1 file was created (filename:Thunderbird--en_US.tar.bz2) but not completed..

    so no really change 😞

    see screenshot of config

Are you sure that the container has exclusive access to the Internet without any blocking software infront of it like PiHole?

Also can you post a screenshot from the Docker Template itself?

pihole is active and running.. but github, thunderbird are all available.. I will try agin with pihole completely deactivated...

I do not understand what you mean by post a screensot of the docker template itself.. do you mean the config or var. settings?

Can you try to stop the container and then delete the thunderbird files and then give it some time so that it can download the files?

sorry, didnt get an email notification about an answer ..

so this is what I did:

I stopped the container, deleted the 2 files and then started it again.

same problem - this is the log file (please read from bottom to top)

  6. Hello,

I try using ich/thunderbird docker on Synology (having a few other containers already active and working fine).

I have installed and configured Thunderbird docker, but I cannot get it to work

    the log files says:

    ---Starting...---
    ---Version Check---
    ---Thunderbird not installed, installing---
---Something went wrong, can't download Thunderbird, putting container in sleep mode---

the network is set to bridge, so it should have full access to internet.

    edit:

I looked in the respective docker folder and only found 3 files

15 Feb was my first try... 21 is from today..

    15.02.2021  14:36               215 .wget-hsts
    21.02.2021  16:49                 0 Thunderbird--.tar.bz2
    15.02.2021  14:23                 0 Thunderbird-78.3.2-.tar.bz2

Where can I start locking to get it to work?
